Population grown from seed imported from Peru in 1991, labeled as "Tillandsia aureobrunnea" and said to be collected at Casma, 1500 m above sea level. The collector's number was KK4. The photos are of the first flowering, in February 2005.
Imported from California Jungle Gardens in 1977.
A small plant from the Peruvian and Bolivian Andes, growing on rocks at 2,000 to 3,300 meters altitude (Smith & Downs, 1977). Used to be known in horticulture as "Tillandsia aureobrunnea."
