We are a small plant nursery specializing in the production of tillandsias. We also grow other bromeliads, epiphytic cacti, and a few other unusual plants. Our nursery is at Pukerua Bay, near Wellington, in New Zealand.
The purpose of this site is to provide information for our customers. If you don't know what a tillandsia is, click here before you go any further.
The site is made up of photographs of plants, all in our nursery, plus general notes about them and additional articles for reference if you want more detail. Before you go and look at the photos, we strongly recommend you read about our policy on plant names. This is important because nearly all the plants we grow from seed are wild plants, not carefully cultivated and selected like most garden plants you buy in commercial retail outlets. Sometimes the name on the seeds turn out to be wrong, and sometimes botanists change the names of plants so we have a page where we record name changes of plants we have supplied in the past.
We will eventually carry pictures of all the plants in our nursery, including the sales stock and our general collection. If you like the look of a plant in our collection which is not in our sales list, contact us. We sometimes have a spare or two, but not enough to list in the sales catalogs.
As we get going, there will be sections on cultivation, the native habitats, a glossary of terminology used on the site, references, and links to other sources of information.
