During the late 1980’s and early 1990’s we made a series of crosses between a Brazilian form of Tillandsia aeranthos, and a number of different populations of Tillandsia tenuifolia. These two species are very close, and part of our interest was to see how alike their hybrids were. It turned out that whilst the various hybrids were very similar vegetatively, their inflorescences were significantly different, despite having the same parents. AT207 had T. aeranthos as mother, T. tenuifolia as father. AT382 had T. tenuifolia as mother, T. aeranthos as their father! Both inherit the hardiness of the parents, and form nice clumps.
