Gomesa are small epiphytic orchids from Brazil. Our plant spent several years in the growing--on house, but never flowered there. We moved it out to a tree-fern trunk in the shade-house last summer (1999-2000), and it looked much happier and put on a lot of new growth, then flowered May 2000. The shade-house is cooler, shadier, and more humid during the day, which corresponds to the advice in our orchid book which says Gomesa "...require good drainage, shade and humidity."
