In their natural environment epiphyllums grow in the tropical rainforests of Central and South America. The plants have been hybridised extensively and now grow very successfully in New Zealand. They flower spectacularly in November - December.
The well-known Easter Cactus and Christmas Cactus are also popular with members of the Society. These Schlumbergias and Rhipsalidopsis grow easily on window sills and porches, flowering annually for many years. Rhipsalis or “Mistletoe Cactus” provide interesting hanging foliage with their minute flowers.
