Phytosanitary Health Certificates

Imported plants must be accompanied by a phytosanitary health certificate from New Zealand.  This normally requires an inspection of the plants by New Zealand Government officials, from a department called AgriQuality Ltd., that is currently costing us approximately US$300 per inspection, even if it only takes 10 minutes. Whilst these high charges are in place, we have no option but to pass the cost on to buyers.

You might be able to avoid the high cost of a New Zealand MAF-certified health certificate if your Plant and Pesticides Regulatory Division will accept an Exporter's Phytosanitary declaration from the growers, Anwyl Bromeliads. We would certify that we have treated the plants with 0.75% acephate within 2 days of export, inspected the plants and found them to be free from injurious pests.  The cost of this would be US$10 per shipment.

This information is provided in good faith, based on the information available to us. We cannot be responsible if regulations in your country have changed, and you should take our outline as a guide only, and check with your own agriculture officials before ordering.
