Tillandsia umbellata

Has been found naturally only in Loja, a small region of southern Ecuador (Rauh, 1981) It grows between 2000 and 4000m altitude, and seems to prefer shady, moist conditions in cultivation.  It has been called the iris-like tillandsia, and has the brightest blue flower of the tillandsias.
