Reported to be widespread through Southern Bolivia and Northwest Argentina, growing at from 200 to 2000 meters. Looks like, and may be, a dwarf form of Tillandsia duratii. The petal colors are somewhat different to T. duratii. We have found it to be a very slow grower in cultivation.
