Imported from Guatemala in 2001. In high light, warmth and high humidity the leaves color up as in the left hand photo. In our cooler shadehouses, the leaves lose the redness as can be seen in the second photo taken after six months here.
Another import in 2001, the inflorescence has many more spikes than the normal variety AB625 above.

A widespread species with many forms. It is found from Florida and the Caribbean right down through South America.
