Published in August, 2007 by Random House under the Godwit label.

Andrew Steens' second book is a more detailed, and much larger, follow-up to his earlier work Bromeliads for the Contemporary Garden. With 400 pages and 556 color photographs, it represents great value for money!

The book starts with a chapter on the history of early bromeliad collectors in South America, and a plea for conservation of these fascinating plants in their native habitats.  From there the emphasis changes to building and maintaining a private collection of bromeliads, followed by discussions of the main species cultivated, and concluding with a detailed guide to growing bromeliads in greenhouses or indoors, in temperate zones, in a subtropical landscape, and in a tropical landscape.
